Beate Rau is professor of surgery at the CHARITÈ Medical University in Berlin. She has specialized in surgical oncology especially in upper and lower GI-tract and thoracic surgery. Her main interest is multimodal treatment with hyperthermia in different settings (regional hyperthermia with phased array technology, thermotherapy induced by nanoparticles and HIPEC after cytoreductive surgery). She started her academic carrier in Heidelberg Rohrbach, University of Heidelberg and at the Charité in Berlin. She is very much involved in education of students and young trainees. Therefore she is board member of the educational and training committee (ETC) of ESSO. She has published 102 articles.
