Odysseas Zoras, MD PhD FACS

Odysseas Zoras graduated from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Medical School “con Lode” in 1980.

He then specialized in General Surgery (University of Athens, Greece, 1988) and in Oncology (University of Rome “La Sapienza”,1992). He made post-graduate studies in Milan Cancer Institute, Glasgow University Royal Infirmary and University of Rochester, Medical Center, New York.

Professor Zoras is currently Dean of the Medical School of the University of Crete.

Professor Zoras has been a member of the WHO Melanoma Programme since 1992, and an active member of the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) (member of the International Committee) since 1996.

He is currently Vice President of the International Society of Cryosurgery (field of interest: liver cryoablation, breast cancer, bone metastases).
and President of the Hellenic Society of Surgical Oncology (HSSO).

His specialties are melanoma, soft tissue sarcoma (accreditated for the use of TNF-alpha in HILP for the treatment of sarcomas of the extremities by Boehringer Ingelheim), breast cancer, liver metastasectomies and colorectal cancer. His teaching activities relate to Surgical Pathology, Surgical Oncology and Molecular and Cellular Oncology.

Professor Zoras is the author or co/author in more than 80 publications in cited scientific journals and contributed author in one textbook of Surgical anatomy. He is the editor of one textbook entitled “Regional Oncotherapies”, member of the editorial board of the “Annals of Surgical Oncology” Journal, section “Bone and soft tissue sarcomas”.
