Congresses & Courses


The European Society of Surgical Oncology is highly committed to promoting education in cancer surgery. By providing the European surgical oncology community with a wide range of educational opportunities and initiatives, ESSO contributes to the advancement of knowledge and expertise in oncology surgery and the clinical management of cancer patients:

  • ESSO's biennial congresses provide oncology surgeons with the most expansive and interconnective educational platform in Europe;
  • ESSO provides surgical expertise and support for the ECCO-ESMO Multidisciplinary Cancer Congresses, of which ESSO is co-organiser;
  • ESSO organises surgical and multidisciplinary courses in partnership with other leading organisations;
  • ESSO gives its auspices to a selection of oncology-related congresses and courses following review of the scientific programme and educational value of the event by the Education and Training Committee;
  • ESSO recommends a number of congresses and courses that are considered of added value for the continuing medical education of oncology surgeons.
