Aim of the Advanced Course                                                         

Led by an international faculty of well-known experts in the field, this course will be an introduction to minimally invasive esophagectomy and gastrectomy. Several lectures will show the vast possibilities as well as potential pitfalls of these procedures. Conventional endoscopic systems and new surgical techniques will be available during hands on sessions on cadavers. Finally, tips will be given on how to implement minimally invasive gastrectomy and esophagectomy in your own center.

Ideal course candidate

  • Novice surgeons to minimally invasive upper GI surgery willing to implement minimally invasive gastrectomy and/or esophagectomy in their center
  • Experienced surgeons and senior residents willing to improve their upper GI laparoscopic practice.

Educational Methods

  • Plenary lectures
  • Anatomy sessions
  • Hands-on surgery workshops with human cadavers and custom made models

Participation                                    

Participation is limited to 20 participants.

Registration fee is 650€ for ESSO members and 800€ for non-members. It includes
the registration for the course, catering and a social dinner.
