On behalf of the European Society of Surgical Oncology, we are delighted to announce that the 15th in the series of ESSO meetings will be celebrated in the graceful city of Bordeaux, France, from the 15th to 17th September 2010.
The general theme for the 2010 Congress is "Surgical outcome: can we do better?" The Congress format is designed to promote the highest standards of surgical care in the management of patients with solid tumours. This is the ideal connective platform to exchange and debate the very latest in patient treatment and care as well as novel approaches to surgical care in a rapidly changing health care environment.
On this occasion, the Congress is being held with the participation of the Société Française du Cancer (SFC) and the Société Française de Chirurgie Oncologique (SFCO) and once again the three-day Scientific Programme has all the ingredients to make the Congress a great success.
Some of the many Programme Highlights to deliver the latest advances and insight in research, patient management and practice include keynote lectures, scientific symposia and an educational workshop on how to train young surgeons. The hugely popular Video Presentations will feature once again in the programme as a direct result of feedback received from delegates attending the 2008 Congress.
New for 2010 are the Plenary Debate Sessions where three short clinical cases covering pancreatic, breast and colorectal cancer will be hotly contested by two experts presenting conflicting views. The audience will be invited to vote on the clinical case presented guaranteeing both a lively and interactive session.
Another "first" in the programme is the "Meet the expert" Breakfast Sessions specially formulated to provide delegates with a unique opportunity to meet in a formal but relaxed atmosphere. Areas under discussion will include Oncoplastic surgery, Management of pancreatic aspects, Technical aspects in liver resection, Publishing (EJSO) workshop and Technical aspects of HIPEC.
Let us also not forget our host city Bordeaux with its pedestrianised boulevards, neoclassical architecture, classified buildings and buildings listed as Historical Monuments, including 3 religious World Heritage buildings and of course its vineyards, all of which we urge you to take time out to enjoy.
We look forward to welcoming you all in September 2010 for what promises to be an outstanding educational and social event.
