Advanced Course on Interdisciplinary Treatment of Lung Cancer
Preceding immediately the ECCO 15-ESMO 34 Congress

The ESSO advanced course on Interdisciplinary Treatment of Lung Cancer will take place on 17-19 September 2009 in Charité Berlin, immediately before the ECCO 15 – ESMO 34 Congress. A maximum of 30 participants will be selected for participation in this unique multidisciplinary and interactive advanced course, which will offer a diversified programme including live sessions, ward rounds, plenary lectures, case presentations and debates in small groups. At the end of the course, participants will have the necessary tools to make evidence based clinical decisions for the treatment of patients with lung cancer.

Free registration and free accommodation will be offered to selected participants.

Joint ECCO 15 – 34th ESMO Multidisciplinary Congress
Pre-registration closes 3rd August 2009

The European Society of Surgical Oncology invites the surgical oncology community to participate in the major cancer congress in Europe, which will be organised in Berlin from 20 to 24 September 2009. The scientific programme includes an exciting surgical oncology track running over the four-day Congress. The event also offers a wonderful platform for exchanges of experiences with colleagues from other disciplines.

ESSO training fellowships

Through its training fellowships, ESSO offers young surgeons under 40 a unique opportunity to expand clinical and research experience and learn new techniques by visiting a European institution or cancer centre for a period ranging from 1 to 12 months.

Fellowships are competitive and applications must be submitted before 31st August.

Flims Workshop 2009
ESSO sponsors 5 young surgeons

ESSO has sponsored the participation of 5 young surgeons in the 11th workshop on Methods in Clinical Research jointly organised by ECCO, AACR and ASCO. The Flims workshop is a well established and renowned intensive residential training that offers a unique opportunity for 80 young doctors to learn the essentials of clinical trials and be in direct contact with experts in this specific area.
