Welcome to the new ESSO electronic newsletter!

The European Society of Surgical Oncology is pleased to present its members and other interested parties with a revamped electronic newsletter offering a more lively and professional design. A couple of weeks ago already, on the occasion of the joint ECCO 15-34th ESMO Multidisciplinary Congress ESSO launched its new logo, domain name and website layout. These changes are part the ESSO strategic development plan towards a more visible, more dynamic and more interactive society. In this context, ESSO will launch within the next few weeks a members’ area on its website, offering its members a range of additional information and services.

Close to 15.000 delegates participated in the premier European cancer meeting held in Berlin from 20 to 24 September, which offered the oncology community a wonderful opportunity to catch the latest news in their field of interest and to meet with their peers from different disciplines. The Congress offered a rich and very well attended surgical oncology track. The ESSO Special session was a tremendous success, with Professor Theo Wiggers being presented the ESSO award for his efforts to improve the outcome of colorectal cancer patients. Webcats of a number of sessions can be viewed from the ECCO website.
