One-month training in a European Breast Cancer Unit!


The European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), the European Society of Breast Cancer Specialists (EUSOMA) and the Oncology Nursing Society (EONS)are pleased to announce their training project on the Multidisciplinary Approach in Breast Cancer Care, a one-month training in a European Breast Unit between April and July 2010. The purpose of this programme is to allow young health professionals dedicated to breast cancer to improve their theoretical knowledge on breast cancer care and their working skills with the aim to create a core team made up of health professionals from various disciplines who have undergone specialist training in breast cancer beyond that given in general training. For each specialty the training will offer a "Focus on" on an important issue related to the specialty, such onco-plastic surgery, MRI, new approaches in radiotherapy treatment options, tailored systematic treatment, etc.

ESSO Workshop: “The Future of Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy”
 24 March 2010, EBCC-7, Barcelona


Organised in the frame of the 7th European Breast Cancer (24-27 March), the ESSO workshop will present the state-of-the-art of sentinel lymph node biopsy, discuss in a roundtable pathological issues and finally address new indications (SNB after breast surgery, during pregnancy, in male breast cancer, in DCIS)

Advanced Course on Evidence and Research in Rectal Cancer 20-22 May 2010, Beograde


This course, jointly organised by ESTRO, ESSO and ESMO wants to promote an integrated approach between all specialists involved in rectal cancer to tailor the best treatment for each individual patient. With a combination of lectures, case discussions in small groups and debates, the course aims to offer a truly multidisciplinary programme, focusing on the advantages of the various treatments for the different presentations of rectal cancer (evidence) and on-going and future research in rectal cancer.
