ESSO 2010 Congress, 15- 17 September 2010, Bordeaux – Abstract submission closes 9 April
|
Further to the successes of previous ESSO meetings, the 15th Congress of the European Society of Surgical Oncology returns to showcase up-to-the-minute developments in patient treatment and care as well as novel approaches to surgical care in a rapidly changing health care environment.
Highlights for 2010 include the hugely popular video presentations and the joint symposium sessions of ESSO, SSO and ESTRO on ‘The management of local recurrence of rectal cancer’ and ESSO, ESTRO and ESMO covering ‘Complete response after neo-adjuvant therapy for rectal cancer’.
In addition, The French Society of Surgical Oncology will provide a new platform for dialogue and debate on clinical research in surgical oncology at their first symposium within the framework of the Congress.

ESSO Advanced Course on the Management of Colorectal Liver Metastases, 13-15 September 2010, Bordeaux

Preceding immediately the ESSO 2010 Congress, this multidisciplinary advanced course will address the various aspects of the management of colorectal liver metastases, including patient’s preoperative assessment, liver resection techniques and intra-operative ablation, synchronous resection, etc. Teaching methods will include plenary lectures, live transmission of liver procedures, case presentations and video discussions. The course is open to both young and experienced oncology surgeons.

ESTRO/ESSSO/ESMO course on the Multidisciplinary Management of Breast Cancer, 17-19 June 2010

This joint multidisciplinary teaching course aims at promoting an integrated approach to the management of breast cancer. The goal is to individualise the treatment based on the clinical presentation, prognostic (tumour) factors and patient-related issues. The challenge to integrate all treatments for every single patient appeals for an optimal cooperation between all specialties involved in the care of breast cancer. The course will be very interactive through the integration of lectures, volume delineation workshops and case discussions and definitely multidisciplinary with a programme outlining the different treatments for breast cancer from evidence based medicine to ongoing research. The faculty includes experts involved in the management of breast cancer from all disciplines.

European Board of Surgery Qualification, September 2010, Bordeaux

Take the opportunity of the 2010 ESSO Congress to take the examination in surgical oncology organised jointly by the European Board of Surgery of the UEMS and the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO).
Open to surgeons trained in Europe, the examination aims at certifying the level of up-to-date knowledge, skills, and general competence necessary for the optimal treatment of a cancer patient.
