ESO-ESSO Masterclass in Colorectal Cancer Surgery, 12 – 17 February 2011, Cascais, Portugal

Building up on the success of the advanced course on rectal cancer organised in The Hague in September 2008, the European Society of Surgical Oncology and the European School of Oncology are joining forces again to organise the first ESO-ESSO Masterclass in Colorectal Cancer Surgery.
This five-day residential educational event will cover the state-of-the art clinical evaluation and treatments of colorectal cancer with reference to clinical guidelines and will conclude in take-home messages. Workshop sessions will address decision making in complex cases. Participants will also be invited to deliver case presentations in small groups and discuss these with the faculty.
Admittance is by competitive application. The successful applicants will be granted free registration but a contribution to the costs of full-board accommodation of 500 EUR and travel are to be covered by the participants.
Submission of applications closes 1st October.

ESSO Fellowships - Visit a European specialist Center and expand your experience and knowledge

Through its training fellowships, ESSO offers young surgeons under 40 a unique opportunity to visit another institution or cancer center in Europe and learn about new techniques and practice. One major fellowship of 10.000 EUR (minimum six-month training) and 6 standard fellowships of 2.000 EUR (minimum one-month training) will be granted this year.
Fellowships are competitive and applications must be submitted before 15th October.

Multidisciplinary Teaching Course on Lung Cancer, 28-30 October, Nice, France

ESSO is a partner in this multidisciplinary initiative run by the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ESTRO). Meant for specialists and trainees with some expertise in radiotherapy, surgery or chemotherapy that are interested in the management of lung cancer. The interactive programme will outline the different treatments for lung cancer from evidence based medicine to the on-going research. The faculty will include chest physicians, radiologists, medical oncologists, thoracic surgeons, and radiation oncologists.
