Kjetil Soreide MD, PhD received his medical training at the University of Freiburg in Germany and trained as a general and gastrointestinal surgeon at the Stavanger University Hospital in Norway, where he is currently practicing as a consultant surgeon. He has been professor at the University of Bergen, Department of Clinical Medicine since 2011.Since 2017 he is a visiting professor and hon. consultant surgeon at the Royal Infirmary and University of Edinburgh, at the Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic surgery.
He is specialising in HPB surgery, as well as general and emergency surgery. He is primary lead for a translational research group in GI cancer and PI for a prospective biobank research project focusing on resectable colorectal primary and liver metastasis (ACROBATICC).
He has published more than 200 Pubmed indexed papers and is an editor of the British Journal of Surgery since 2010. He serves on the editorial board of several other journals.
