Applications for the 2018 International Career Development Exchange (ICDE) program are now open! 01/09/2017
The American Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) provides an annual grant to an up-and-coming ESSO recognised surgical oncologist to attend the SSO Annual Symposium and visit various exceptional Surgical Oncology institutions within the USA. The visit offers access to top minds and topical education and enables the selected fellow to expand his/her expertise and to network with surgical oncologists (both at the SSO Annual Symposium and at the institutions he/she visits) to develop long-term relationships in order to improve cancer care in their home country. The International Career Development Exchange (ICDE) program aims to provide support for ESSO members with leadership potential, dissemination of the knowledge gained through the exchange upon returning home is an important element of the ICDE program.
The period of the program will take place over two weeks (20th March 2018 - 6th April 2018), with no more than one week spent at any single institution. SSO will provide the successful applicant with a list of institutions to visit and act as an intermediary once the applicant has decided upon the institutions he/she would like to visit. The SSO also provides a $5,000 grant to the successful candidate to cover international airfare, lodging and airfare within the US for the duration of the exchange and a mentor to support their visits. The successful candiate will also have the opportunity to display and present an Abstract Poster in the Global Poster Section in the Exhibit Hall at SS0 2018 Annual Symposium and be invited to the international reception and the SSO/ESSO meeting.
