Essential Requirements for Quality Cancer Care for Melanoma and Oesophagal & Gastric Cancer

The ECCO Essential Requirements for Quality Cancer Care (ERQCC) for Melanoma and Oesophagal & Gastric Cancer have been published in the February 2018 edition of Critical Reviews in Oncology/Hematology and can be accessed below.

The management of cancer care is complex and to achieve best results for the patient coordination and cooperation between disciplines is essential. Each profession brings unique skillsets and insights to the decision-making process on individualised patient treatment. It is multidisciplinarity that ensures such teamwork occurs. ESSO is proud to have contributed heavily on these papers. Thank you to our ESSO contributors: William Allum for his work on the Essential Requirements for Quality Cancer Care for Oesophagal Cancer & Gastric Cancer and to Michel Wouters for the Essential Requirements for Quality Cancer Care for Melanoma.

The ECCO ERQCC project aims to:

  • Improve outcomes for cancer patients in Europe through the adoption and the implementation of essential requirements for quality cancer care in Europe
  • Complement existing clinical guidelines and improve their efficacy
  • Shape the policy environment at European and national levels to improve quality of cancer care across Europe and decrease inequalities in cancer outcomes
