Training Fellowship Reports

Providing the best possible education and training to surgeons wishing to pursue a career in the field of oncology is at the core of the ESSO mission.

For the junior (medical students or “in training”), our society provides different opportunities to let them acquire an overview of the complexity of oncology and the importance of multidisciplinarity to become the future surgical specialists in cancer care.

Institution: Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex Ile-Ife (NG)

Learning Objective: To gain experience in oncoplastic breast surgery and management of breast cancer in general.

 

Anastasios Angelou (GR) - ESSO Fellowship 2018

Institution: Cleveland Clinic Foundation (USA)

Learning Objective: The aim of my visit was to work as a research fellow in the domain of colorectal liver metastasis.


Viacheslav Kopetskyi (UA) – ESSO Fellowship 2018

Institution: Sheba Medical Center, Israel

Learning Objective: The aim of my visit was to explore the expertise of professor Nissan in treatment of peritoneal carcinomatosis and to explore Israel.


Gijs van Boxel (UK) – ESSO Fellowship 2018​

Institution: University Medical Centre Utrecht, The Netherlands

Learning Objective: The aim of the Fellowship was to become familiar with Robotic-Assisted Minimally Invasive Esophagectomy (RAMIE) and to perform research in one of the leading Oesophageal Cancer Centres in the world.


Ioannidis Orestis (GR) – ESSO Fellowship 2018​

Learning Objective: To gain experience in fluorescence guided oncologic surgery with ICG and advanced oncologic laparoscopic surgery.
