Currently, I am finishing my training as a Surgical Oncologist specialising in colorectal, breast and endocrine malignancies.
In 2015, I was awarded with the Bas Mulder Award from the Dutch Cancer Society and Alpe d'HuZes on Watch-and-Wait in rectal cancer patients. My research project focusses on implementation of optical imaging using near-infrared fluorescent rectal cancer-specific endoscopy for non-invasive evaluation of response to CRT and surveillance of early cancer recurrence after CRT. Furthermore, I'm aiming to provide more data on safety, functional outcome and quality of life of rectal cancer patients treated with a Watch-and-Wait policy.
