Prof Michel Rivoire
Michel Rivoire, MD, PhD, is Professor of Medicine in Surgical Oncology and Head of the Surgical Oncology Department at the Centre Léon Bérard of the Université Claude Bernard in Lyon, France.
Dr. Rivoire obtained his medical degree in 1989 specializing in surgery from the Université Claude Bernard in Lyon, France. He has made a one year research fellowship in Memorial Solan Kettering Cancer Center (New York) in 1990. In 1995, he received his PhD, from the Université Claude Bernard, for his research on the use of radiolabelled monoclonal antibodies for diagnosis and treatment of liver metastases from colorectal cancer. He also holds a Masters in Surgical Sciences “Cancérologie”, 1989, Paris XI.
Dr Michel Rivoire is Director of the Experimental Surgerical Institute (Léon Bérard Cancer Center-Inserm U1032). His main field of research is the use of High Intensity Focussed Ultrasounds (HIFU) in the treatment of liver tumors.
Dr. Rivoire is an active member of a number of professional groups including the Society of Surgical Oncology, the European Society of Surgical Oncology, the Société Française de Chirurgie Oncologique, and the Fondation Française de Cancérologie Digestive.
Dr. Rivoire has co-authored more than 90 peer-reviewed articles and over 80 abstracts and book chapters.
Michel Rivoire was elected Honorary Treasurer in October 2018.
