Animated Video: The Positive Impact of Specialised Surgery in the Fight Against Cancer 02/02/2017
Surgical oncology societies – partners of ESSO at the international level – have started to translate our short animated video about the importance of specialised surgery in their own local language.
This video was developed by ESSO, the US Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), and the Brazilian Society of Surgical Oncology (SBCO/BSSO) – at the origin of this video initiative – at the end of 2016.
Cancer surgical operations are highly specialised, and need to be performed in a multidisciplinary environment by surgical specialists in cancer care. The safety and quality of cancer surgery are thus essential. With a simple language and attractive animations this video focuses on the positive impact of specialised surgery to ensure the best possible outcomes for cancer patients, especially in combination with other treatment modalities. The essential importance of surgery for global cancer care is also reflected in the recent publications in CancerWorld and the Lancet Oncology.
Do not hesitate to share this video: together, we can make a public awareness breakthrough on this important topic.
