DREAM Project Update 05/07/2018
Implementing Integrated Quality Assurance (SURCARE) for EORTC-JCOG 1527 / ESSO 02: Diffusion-Weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DW-MRI) Assessment of Liver Metastasis to Improve Surgical Planning (DREAM)
This is the first collaborative study between European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), ESSO and Japan Clinical Oncology Group (JCOG) with an integrated quality assurance (QA) program for imaging, surgery and pathology. Together, they also developed an infrastructure for surgical QA in clinical trials (SURCARE) to advance the surgical oncology research agenda in Europe and Asia.
This year, updates about the DREAM study will be presented as poster in spotlight during the 38th ESSO Congress. The main aim of the study is to show the added value of DW-MRI, contrast-enhanced MRI and CT scan to provide precise assessment of disappearing colorectal liver metastasis (DLMs) and improve prognostication and treatment strategies for patients. Primary endpoint is negative predictive value of advanced imaging in confirming the status of DLMs using histopathology or follow-up imaging as comparators. Around 400 patients will be registered for 3 years. As of April 2018, 88 patients have been registered from Japan, Europe and United States.
