ESSO Young Surgeon’s Alumni Club welcomes its new leaders and National Representatives
As ESSO gears up for the next two years under the leadership of Prof. Isabel Rubio, the ESSO Young Surgeon’s Alumni Club (EYSAC) also welcomes its new steering committee members and national representatives from 44 countries around the world.
After a very productive and successful term, Andreas Brandl (Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin) now passes the baton to Carmela Caballero (Breast International Group) as the new EYSAC Steering Committee Chair. New members also include:
Eduard-Alexandru Bonci - "Prof. Dr. Ion Chiricuta" Institute of Oncology / "Iuliu Hatieganu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca, Romania
Pallvi Kaul - Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences, and Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, India
Dana Sochorova - University Hospital Brno & Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, Czech Republic
Nikolaos Vassos - Heidelberg University, Germany
Previous members, Andreas Brandl, Nada Santrac, Mariela Vasileva - Slaveva, Carl Jacob Holmberg will remain as senior SC members. Each of them also represents EYSAC in several Educational Training Committee working groups of ESSO.

The EYSAC National Representatives, the young ambassadors of ESSO, established since 2017 by previous EYSAC SC Chair Karol Polom, now comprise 44 members from Europe and beyond, a testament to the society’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

The EYSAC Research Academy, the subgroup of EYSAC that serves a platform for collaborative research and education, complementary to work of the ETC. The EYSA RA, founded by Andreas Brandl and Laura Lorenzon in 2020, has so far been very successful in conducting several surveys on key surgical oncology topics.
Taken together, the goals of EYSAC are the following:
CONNECT young cancer surgeons and foster CAMARADERIE
Create a pathway for COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH, learning and long-term involvement with ESSO
CONTRIBUTE to the mission and vision of ESSO: Cure Cancer Together
