Introducing Incision Academy during the ESSO-EYSAC Hands on Course on Abdominal Surgery 25/10/2018
This course is a hands-on workshop on surgical anatomy of the abdominal organs and vessels. Interactive discussions will complete each session so that practical/anatomical and management issues will be integrated. Pearls and pitfalls of oncological surgery of every abdominal organ will be put into practice on specially embalmed bodies.
The educational methods will be hands-on sessions with human bodies and several exercises of surgical techniques. What sets this course apart is that our elearning partner Incision kindly provided high quality surgical videos from their Incision Academy (www.incision.care). An example is the Open Abdominal Hysterectomy procedure which can be viewed here.
Incision Academy is an online education platform for sharing surgical skills and knowledge using standardization and a systematic approach. It provides access to over 300 courses of procedures in various specialties, filmed in 2D/3D from the surgeon’s point of view. An anatomically accurate 3D model based on CT scans that has been in development by a collaboration of anatomists, surgeons and technicians around the globe is also part of the learning environment. An example of the 3D model demonstrating the Abdominal Aorta can be seen here.
Next to being being endorsed by ESSO, Incision Academy is accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of England and is used globally by surgical interns, residents and specialists.
