Steps Forward in the Essential Requirements for Quality Cancer Care Project 28/08/2017
From last year, ESSO has been involved in a project on essential requirements for quality cancer care (ERQCC), carried out in cooperation with the European CanCer Organisation (ECCO) and representatives from other cancer-related societies. This ambitious project aims to provide explanations of the organisation of care and actions necessary to provide high-quality care to patients who have a specific tumour type.
In 2017 ESSO is contributing with a leading role in the two new disease areas selected by the project: melanoma and oesophageal and gastric cancer. In particular, ESSO is being represented by William Allum for the ERQCC on oesophageal and stomach cancer and Michel Wouters for the melanoma study.
After the first results on soft tissue sarcoma and colorectal cancers were published and discussed during the ECCO2017 congress, the project is now taking significant steps forward, and soon we expect to hear further results achieved by this group of European experts; who are striving to find solutions to improve quality of cancer care across Europe.
