On 12 February in Strasbourg, the European Parliament voted to reaffirm cancer as a priority in the European Union, calling for the continuation of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan (EBCP) within the next EU Multiannual Financial Framework (2028–2034), reaffirming cancer as a top political priority for the European Union.
ESSO welcomes this strong political commitment and the clear message it sends in support of sustained investment in cancer prevention, treatment, research and survivorship.
As the leading European organisation representing surgical oncologists, ESSO remains firmly committed to advancing the objectives of the EBCP. Through its advocacy activities and engagement with EU institutions and stakeholders, ESSO continues to promote equitable access to high-quality multidisciplinary cancer care, with surgery as a central pillar of curative treatment.
ESSO stands ready to work with policymakers and partners across Europe to ensure that, together, we move closer to our shared vision: cure cancer together.
