ESSO-JMed’s Renewed Strategic Partnership

Following a successful initial three-year collaboration, the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) has renewed its partnership with Jiahui Medical Research and Education Group (J-Med) for a further three-year period, running from January 2026 to December 2028. The renewed agreement reinforces a shared commitment to advancing surgical oncology education, strengthening international collaboration, and promoting high-quality clinical research.

Under the new Memorandum of Understanding, ESSO and J-Med will continue to deliver a comprehensive programme of joint educational activities. This includes the organisation of eight webinars annually, covering key tumour areas such as breast, colorectal and hepatopancreatobiliary cancers, as well as dedicated sessions on robotic surgery, mentorship, and clinical research training. ESSO will contribute its European faculty expertise to programme development, teaching, and moderation, while selected educational content will also be made available through J-Med’s online platform for wider access among Chinese physicians.

The partnership further supports professional exchange and community building. A J-Med representative will be integrated into the Young ESSO network, and collaboration at the ESSO Congress will continue through dedicated joint sessions and participation of Chinese experts. In parallel, ESSO faculty will contribute to J-Med’s annual surgical oncology conference in China, fostering ongoing dialogue between European and Chinese specialists.

Research collaboration remains a central pillar of the agreement. Both ESSO and J-Med aim to facilitate connections between institutions and clinicians to support the development of international, multi-centre clinical trials and to strengthen links between our respective scientific journals (EJSO and CSO).

J-Med will also play a key role in expanding ESSO’s visibility in China by promoting its activities across a network of more than 40,000 physicians, localising educational content where needed, and supporting a dedicated ESSO continuing medical education channel. This renewed partnership marks an important step in deepening global collaboration in surgical oncology and in delivering high-impact education and research opportunities for the international community.
