ESSO is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the ESSO–SSO International Career Development Exchange Programme (ICDE) 2027.

This joint initiative between ESSO and the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) is designed to support an up-and-coming, early-career surgical oncologist with leadership potential through international mentorship and professional exchange.

The selected participant will receive:

  • Complimentary registration for SSO 2027 in Washington, D.C.
  • Participation in a one-week clinical observership at a US-based SSO member institution.
  • One-to-one mentoring from a senior SSO member, with the aim of developing a long-term professional relationship that continues throughout the participant’s career.
  • A $3,000 grant to support participation in the programme.

The ICDE offers a valuable opportunity to gain international experience, expand professional networks, and develop leadership skills within the global surgical oncology community.

Application deadline: 3 July 2026

We encourage eligible ESSO Young Surgeons to apply and take advantage of this exceptional career development opportunity.
