Open Call – BOOST–BRESO Observership Opportunity

We are pleased to announce the launch of the first BOOST–BRESO Short-Term Observership in Breast Surgical Oncology, hosted by University Federico II of Naples and supervised by Nicola Rocco. Short-Term Focused Training in Breast Surgical Oncology – industry supported participation for 1 selected candidate.

This four-week observership offers intensive, topic-focused exposure to modern breast surgical oncology practice within a high-volume European centre, with a particular focus on Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery and specifically Nipple-Sparing Mastectomy and Immediate Reconstruction.

The programme is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of clinical decision-making, multidisciplinary care, surgical indications, quality assurance, and evidence-based practice, while observing expert teams in action.

  • Quality assurance and outcome evaluation processes

Who Can Apply?

Applications are open to ESSO members who are:

  • Board-certified specialists, or
  • Final-year trainees

in one of the following disciplines:

  • Breast Surgery
  • General Surgery
  • Gynaecology
  • Plastic Surgery
  • Surgical Oncology

Learning Objectives

By the end of the observership, participants should be able to:

  • Transfer knowledge and best practices to their home institution
  • Describe current evidence in oncoplastic breast surgery and conservative mastectomy techniques
  • Explain multidisciplinary treatment decision pathways
  • Identify quality indicators used in breast units
  • Critically appraise surgical indications and alternatives
