At ESSO, we want to provide young surgical oncologists with valuable opportunities for learning and growth. Through varied support initiatives, we aim to support trainees on their educational journey, offering them the chance to broaden their horizons and gain exposure to new techniques in specialised centres around the world.

ESSO Educational Grants

For surgeons coming from countries with high-income economies we offer two educational grants of €1500 each
For surgeons coming from low- and middle-income countries we offer two educational grants of €2000 each

ESSTSS – one grant of €2000

Y-ESSO Research Grants

For young colleagues to expand their research in surgical oncology we offer two research grants of €1500

ESSO-SSO International Career Development Exchange Programme

As part of a reciprocal partnership between ESSO and the American Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), a grant is offered each year to support an emerging ESSO surgical oncologist in attending the SSO Annual Meeting and visiting a leading American cancer centre. In return, ESSO welcomes an SSO-selected surgical oncologist to participate in the ESSO Congress and undertake an observership at a European institution.
