Training Pathways - structured journey in surgical oncology

To support professional development and ensure high-quality surgical care, ESSO offers structured 2-year organ-specific Training Pathways, leading to the ESSO Certificate of Professional Training.

What's in it for you?

Each Training Pathway is comprised of:

• Educational courses (mandatory or optional)
• Complementary webinars (optional)
• Short-term (1 month) observership at an ESSO-approved training unit (mandatory)
• ESSO Congress and/or other recommended scientific meetings (optional)

Candidate should complete the above steps in 24 months in order to be awarded the ESSO Certificate of Professional Training, recognising their achievement of evidence-based skills in their chosen specialty.

To further validate their knowledge, participants may choose to complete the EBSQ Examination (recommended). However, the exam is not part of the Training Pathway and is entirely optional.
