Are you a passionate leader in the field of surgical oncology with a vision for advancing scientific communication? EJSO is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Editor-in-Chief to join the team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our esteemed journal.

About EJSO

EJSO – The Official Journal of the European Society of Surgical Oncology and British Association of Surgical Oncology ~ the Association for Cancer Surgery. 

EJSO serves as a premier platform for the dissemination of cutting-edge research and developments in surgical oncology. As the official journal of the ESSO and BASO, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality and integrity in our publications.

Key Responsibilities

As the Editor-in-Chief, you will:

  • Oversee the journal’s content and ensure a constant supply of high-quality manuscripts to Elsevier, maintaining our publishing schedule. This includes triaging submitted papers to determine their suitability for the journal, ensuring that they align with the journal’s aims and scope. You will also oversee the review process for select manuscripts, coordinating peer reviews, and making final decisions on publication based on reviewer feedback and the quality of the submissions.
  • Stay attuned to the evolving landscape of surgical oncology and ensure our content reflects the latest trends and emerging work.
  • Conduct editorial activities in alignment with industry standards for integrity and objectivity, adhering to the journal’s policies and ethical guidelines with support from the Chairman of the Board and Publisher.
  • Collaborate with the Publisher, ESSO, and BASO to select and engage the Editorial Board, facilitating ongoing discussions about journal progress and editorial strategies.
  • Provide strategic input and work closely with the Publisher to enhance the journal’s development and performance.
  • Actively promote the journal among peers and colleagues to enhance its visibility and reputation.

Qualifications

  • Extensive leadership experience in surgical oncology, with a strong publication record.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience managing editorial processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to upholding ethical standards in publishing.
  • Affiliation with or previous involvement in either or both the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) and the British Association of Surgical Oncology – Association for Cancer Surgery (BASO~ACS) is highly desirable.
