The Global Status Report on Cancer 2026: The Future We Choose Together provides the latest assessment of the global cancer burden, reporting 20.6 million new diagnoses in 2024 and projecting 35 million new cases annually by 2050. The report highlights major inequities in cancer survival and access to care, assessing global cancer trends, health-system capacity, and patients’ lived experiences, with particular attention to the gap between scientific advances and equitable access to them worldwide.
The report also sets out key actions, structured around seven recommendations and three overarching shifts: better capabilities, better protections, and better value. Each recommendation outlines actions for governments, international organisations, civil society, academic institutions, the private sector, and WHO.
